Welcome to my sunny little corner of the world wide web! I'd like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your interest in viewing my teddies here at Peabeary Cottage. The teddies and I thank you!

My teddy bears range in size from 2" tall to 24" tall, with varying sizes in between. I use German mohair and glass or shoe button eyes. The finest threads are used in sewing my fur people together and I lovingly stuff them with a combination of 100% cotton, excelsior and pellets. All of their noses are hand-stitched and I use a variety of methods for shading and trimming the fur.
As most of us enjoy creating things that we are fond of ourselves, I tend to dress and adorn my teddies in antique fabrics, laces and trims. In addition to creating teddy bears and other critters, I also sculpt fantasy dolls in polymer clay. I hope that you might take a peek at them on my other website at www.lilafae.com. I also make porcelain dollhouse dolls in 1:12 scale that can be viewed there as well.
The first teddy bear I remember falling in love with was a small 4" jointed mohair teddy bear by Steiff. Oh, how I envied my second cousin who owned him. My next love affair was with a dear teddy that I found lying in a mud puddle when I was a child. He had no stuffing and had a gaping hole where his face had once been. I took him home at once, knowing he needed to be reborn. My mom saw to it that he was properly stuffed and regained his senses with some stitching and black button eyes. Below is a picture of him in his dressing gown that I had on hand as a child. His name is Max. "Max... I'd like you to meet the nice folk who are paying you a wee visit." Max says "Many, many thanks for stopping by!"

"I have a bear from days gone by
Very worn and tattered
But it was there for me to love
And that's all that really mattered!"
Since I long ago ran out of room with my own doll and bear collections, I found myself on the other side - creating bears and dolls that might one day touch someone else's heart and find a comfy spot or a cozy chair in their home instead.
I do hope you'll come again soon!
Brerbeary hugs,
